‘An organisation has integrity – is healthy – when it is whole, consistent and complete, that is when its management, operations, strategy and culture fit together and make sense.’
– Lencioni, ‘The Advantage’, 2012
Vivos Consulting is passionate about working with organisations. We have long experience of senior management in both small, entrepreneurial businesses and large, global companies. Our roles combined intensive involvement in sales processes with operational implementation. As a result, we are able to take a balanced view of organisational realities.
Our experience has convinced us that attention to the underlying dynamics in organisations is a major determinant of success. The best organisations are those where everyone understands the overall purpose and knows their part in helping to achieve it. Although this appears self-evident, it can be surprisingly hard to implement in practice. The day-to-day hurly-burly, combined with high workloads and financial pressures, can result in a short-term, task-focused approach which suppresses the subtler signs of systemic stress.
As external consultants, we take up a ‘third position’ vis-a-vis our client organisations (Britton, 1989). In practice, this means that we observe and participate in the life of the organisation without ever becoming fully assimilated. From this perspective we can more easily identify issues and assist the organisation in working towards solutions.
